Alcohol Advice and Tips | A Better Medway

Alcohol advice

Many of us enjoy attending picnics, BBQs and parties, and having a glass of wine or a cool beer to unwind and enjoy yourself. Problem is before you know it you've drunk half a bottle of wine and you could be on the path towards harmful drinking.

  • Most people who regularly drink more than the low risk guidelines don’t see any harmful effects at first.
  • You don’t have to be an alcoholic to be at risk of damaging your health.
  • The effects of alcohol on your health will depend on how much you drink - the more you drink the greater the risk.

What can you do?

The NHS 'One You' campaign has a great webpage with tips on how to cut down drinking alcohol, the impact of alcohol on your body, calories in alcohol, and a drinks tracker app to calculate how many units you are consuming.

You can also take the free and confidential alcohol test to find out how risky your alcohol consumption is.

If you or someone you know needs support speak to your GP, or contact local services in Medway.
