Healthy mind

Unwind with a healthy mind

What is mental wellbeing?

It's useful to start with the idea that overall wellbeing involves both the mind and the body.

There is a deeper kind of wellbeing which is about living in a way that is good for you and good for others around you.

''Feelings of contentment, enjoyment, confidence and engagement with the world are all a part of mental wellbeing. Self-esteem and self-confidence are too. So is a feeling that you can do the things you want to do. And so are good relationships, which bring joy to you and those around you." NHS Choices

Evidence shows finding purpose, meaning, accepting yourself and caring for others all contribute to positive mental wellbeing.

We hope you will find in these pages helpful information about mental health and simple tips to look after your mental health. If you're experiencing difficulties in coping with life and wondering am I ok, don't worry, you're not alone. One in four of us will have problems with our mental health at some time in our lives. Staying connected - Information and support for older people in Medway

As we get older, keeping active or connected to others within the local community can help maintain or improve our physical and mental health. We know that feeling lonely or isolated can sometimes happen and the Staying Connected guide has been produced to help prevent people losing touch with what is available for the over 55s in Medway. We hope this booklet will be useful by letting you know what is happening in your local area and how you can get support to join in.

The booklet is designed to be printed in A5 booklet format where possible.
