Smoking in pregnancy

There are over 4000 chemicals in tobacco. Would you let your child into a room containing 4000 chemicals, 60 of which you know can cause cancer? Of course not.

If you smoke during pregnancy, your baby will be in the womb with all those chemicals and as a result may not grow and develop properly. He may also have learning difficulties because those chemicals can interfere with brain development.

If you are pregnant and you smoke take up your entitlement

Medway Stop Smoking Service provides a specialist service for pregnant women and their partners. Our advisers understand the challenges women face when trying to quit smoking and are here to offer friendly support and advice without judging or preaching.
We aim to provide a relaxed and discreet service where you feel comfortable to discuss your smoking and will always attempt to meet your individual needs because we recognise that everyone is different. This specialist support is free and confidential and we offer one to one appointments at various times and locations across Medway. If you can’t come to us then we can offer you a home visit.
You can use nicotine replacement therapy when pregnant to help you deal with cravings and we will advise you how to use this effectively. We have supported hundreds of pregnant women to successfully quit smoking over the years: take up our challenge and have a chat so we can discuss your options. We are here to help.
